Am at a loss to explain both DSs odd 'allergic' presentations- random 'hayfever' like attacks, streaming noses, sneezing, itchy eyes. They come on out of the blue and disappear almost as quickly. They both do take a lot of Asda's own brand anti-allergy tabs but I so wish I knew what was setting them off- and no, the GP won't test them. I'm pretty sure it's not the usual suspects: cats (mother has 2), dust mites (why does the reaction come and go?), hayfever proper (can walk across a mown field OK)- so what?

We do, however, live in a very damp rental bungalow. We're talking dark recessed corners with actual 3D black mould! I do bleach regularly. There has also been dry rot under one of the floors!

Might the coming and going nature of the DSs reaction be explained by mould going through its lifecycle of 'fruiting' or whatever it is it does?

To be honest gaussgirl my dd has allergies. I know already many multiple food allergies along with pollen and dustmite. She is on a preventer for asthma which now I dont know she has unless she gets a cold. what my dd does share with your ds is the itchy eye problem. She can easily have this everyday and then for periods it goes? I have mild mould around the home sometimes to which I bleach. Limited carpets, anti dustmite mattresses and bedding. Blind, in her room and wash all bedding at 60 degrees. Aswell as washing and freezing teddies regularly. It is a mystery sometimes. I believe it is often pollens and airbourne particles but also have noticed it can be triggered by certain foods making her react. She doesnt share the other hayfever symptoms strangly enough but gets pain up her nose
