Any body wash/hairwash recommendations for eczema sufferers?

We have my 14mth DS eczema pretty much under control now with hemp seed oil, to a pale pink rash. We have never used body wash or shampoo on him, but now I would like to use something, as he gets food in his hair and his hair is growing quite a bit now.

I know we can use emollient as a wash, but I wondered if there is anything else that others have found is gentle enough for eczema sensitive skin? I'd like him to get used to bubbles a bit - he seemed scared when I put some washing up liquid bubbles on my nose as a joke the other day (I guess as he has never seen bubbles before or felt them). Obviously I don't want to cause another flare up, but I am hoping there may be something we can use, even if every so often.
Thanks

I think you can get Infaderm bubble bath? Haven't tried it myself though, we just use Oilatum in the bath and keep DS's hair short so not too much food can get stuck in it!

Thanks, that looks great. I know it is a little thing, but it'd be nice if we can use something. I'll give it a try and keep my fingers crossed.
Thanks for posting.

You could also try Polytar shampoo and Oilatum bath oil. You only need to use a TINY bit of each each time.

I found both really helped a lot (I had horrendous eczema on my head and really bad psoriasis/ezcema on my arms and legs). Both products were fabulous at relieving the heat and itchiness and cleared up the angry redness, BUT I was a teenager at the time so it might be wise to check with your doctor first that's it's ok to use at his age.

e45 shampoo is very bland, dd uses it, and the shower cream to wash with, then has diprobase oil in the bath water. Dont however use the shower cream to wash hair with, as it turns into a greasy mop.

Particularly dont wash hair with shower cream the night before nursery photos.

Aveeno products are very good

try and avoid the ingredient Sodium Laureth Sulphate or SLS for short. It is an extremely nasty chemical (is used to strip industrial oil) and unfortunately in alot of high street products.

Personally I would try 'little me range which you can get in boots or 'halo N horns' which is now available in tesco.

I use Green Baby stuff, only a tiny bit is needed. Even this does probably dry the skin a bit but I just slather the epaderm on when out of the bath. Once they have hair you do need something to clean it out!

Agree with Furball (great name!). Since we cut out SLS and anything containing mineral oil, DS1 has not had a single flare-up. He is almost five now and used to have regular eczema rashes in his first year or so until I sussed out his triggers.

Mineral oil is one of my own triggers for eczema so it seemed like a good idea to try cutting it out for DS1 too.

This means no Oilatum, or aqueous cream or similar for us though. I like Weleda and Beaming Baby stuff and because we do quite like bubbles in the bath, Jason bath stuff really well whisked does the trick.

And regular post-bath moisturising with Weleda/Beaming Baby cream.
