Red pimply rash across baby's face

DD, who is a month old, has been developing red spots across her face -- they started on her cheeks a few days ago, but are now smaller and far more numerous and have spread right across her temples and scalp. I know this is the classic age for "baby acne" but can it really be just that? Could it be a reaction to something I ate or something else? We started off just washing with water, then tried Johnson's Top to Toe and now Boots Expert Sensitive Head to Toe Wash -and I am planning to try to get something organic tomorrow... Any suggestions?

It seems to just be getting worse... am planning to put this in Children's Health, too, but thought I would try the superior knowledge of those in the Allergies thread...

Just water. Nothing else as you could make it worse.

Baby acne here lasted for 6 weeks from about 4 weeks old, was worse when she was hot or cross.

It's not pretty but it's normal.

Is she otherwise okay? Does it bother her? Any other reason to think it may be an allergy rather than normal baby acne?

My DD had this for weeks after she was born - about a similar age IIRC. Started off with a few and got worse and worse and spread all over her head, down her neck and top of back. My HV looked at it and said it was fine and it would just go naturally. I didn't use any products on it - and she was fine. Pictures looked a bit odd though of a very spotty baby!

Don't spend lots of money of stuff that won't make any difference.

OK, shall resist the temptation for products then... It's pretty hideous - and as I breastfeed her I swear I can see it spreading before my eyes... Fortunately, she seems in pretty good spirits, which is the main thing... Maybe it's nature's way of getting her father to put the camera down...
