Has anyone got rid of their CAT because of a child's allergies?

My cat has thus far been with me for longer than both my husbands put together!

But one consultant of DD's advised me to get rid of it, because DD has a lot of asthma and recurrent pnuemonia.

The cat is half wild so would not be able to be re-homed really. Has anyone got rid of a cat for this reason?

If your cat is half wild, I assume he is out most of the time? Why not buy him a nice insulated small plastic kennel with blankets and a sheepskin, and keep it in the shed, with a cat flap on shed so he can pretty much live outdoors comfortably? Would only suggest this for a cat who loves being out, not a cat who is a home type one.

One of my cats lives outdoors all summer. He comes in to be fed, then is straight back out again. When he gets cold around Oct/Nov, he starts staying in more but tbh he would prefer to be outside.

Oh and as someone else said how do you know FOR SURE that it is the cat?
With solid floors as well, I can see you getting a new home for the cat and not a difference being made.

If it were me in your position, I would not rehome the cat.
