Very very very miffed.

bloods from last time.......

hazel nuts 0.7
tree pollen 0.8
milk 0.2

house dust mite......mahoosive welt
cat and dog and rabbit.....welt
grass................mahoosive welt
tree.................mahoosive welt

everything else, teeny welts, but welts all the same

and the numbered plaster that differentiated the tests.......reacted to that too

I was tested for so much it was on both arms (and they test for 24 per arm!), and they were a little shocked.....

oh, and I am allergic to eye-make-up too it seems

sooooooooo

am I entitled to start wine now??? ((I won;t, got kiddies to tend to, but I feel the need))

foods to avoid forever...........milk, nuts, all fresh fruits, fresh tomatoes, filtered coffee (instant is fine however......oh the joy)

can I have permission to also scream, VERY LOUDLY.......

I know that avoiding foods is, in the grand scheme of things, rather irritating, but I feel like my life, as I currently know it, has ended a teeny bit!

so......sympathy in spades please (for today at least.....tomorrow I will , and carry on)

Wouldn't dare suggest you give up wine (shudders at thought). Just that you make sure you don't dehyrdate from drinking it and practise with the epipen so you can use it after a few drinks.

How would you feel about looking like Rudolph? I know inhaled allergens are impossible to avoid but Lloyds do a cheaper version of medinose that is really worth trying. There is at least one thread about it. Just hide while you use it. The inhaled allergens tend to make eyes itchy so anything that could help with those just might make you tolerate eye make-up more readily.

I get mild reactions to eye make up sometimes - excema on eyelids which is really depressing because it means my skin 'cracks' every time I open my eyes

However, I can wear (Clinique) mascara and eye liner - just not eye shadow....

I do realise that my reactions are as nothing to yours though, and for me make up would be not a huge deal and coffee would be the end of the world

PsychoAxeMurdererMum · 17/10/2008 09:34

jabberwocky, thankyou......I will go hunt down said book

Tatt....I might well hunt down that spray and try it. I suffer red nose lots anyway (while my face stays white), so will be nothing new.

stealth.......thanks on the clinque tip. how much are they, do yu remember?? oh, and if I had to give up all coffee.....believe me, it WOULD be the end of the world. However, as I can still have instant, I am ok. I have instant most of the time anyway now as real coffee makes me itch and scratch my throat raw if I have it too often. so, in all honesty, to go without is not a major deal. make-up............yup, feels like a major deal right now. HOWEVER, I am very pale with freckles and red head skin tone........all I am really missing is the eyeliner and mascara (my eyes are too pale and look 'naked' without IYGWIM). If I can still have that, I will be happy!

having said that.......went without makeup yesterday.........made no difference to the eye watering/stinging.....

About £11 for eyeliner and £12-£13 for mascara, I think - I used to get them from duty free though, when I was travelling more.

I only like real coffee

PsychoAxeMurdererMum · 17/10/2008 10:24

not too major then.....

at least xmas and then my birthday is comeing up.....can ask for boots vouchers and then get some during the year

do you never have instant coffee??? I am glad I can cope with it. altho, I realised very early on that real coffee and me are a bad mix, after ending up in hospital one time while pregnant, having an asthma attack aftere drinking some especially strong brewed real coffee. I kind of lost my tast for it. now I drink it that infrequently I can cope.....seems to be a build up rather than a bad reaction now......but of course, the infrequent is still enough to tip me, hence the allergy lady saying to avoid althogether.

not sure tho how that will stand me for when I go out for coffee........I cannot drop that! I might need to ignore that advice, I really will hate not having coffee while out!!!

arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I HATE ALLERGIES........

I do very occasionally drink instant, but have a bean-to-cup expresso-type machine at home and often choose tea over instant coffee elsewhere.

Could you develop a taste for fancy teas when out [hopeful]?

It's not a spray - its a couple of things you poke into your nose that emit red light. So your nose glows - but at least its only when you have the diodes in it

Just had a quick look at the current price and this website has a good offer on www.chemistdirect.co.uk/ We have the Lloyds pharmacy version as it was cheaper at the time.
