CMP Allergy? Reflux Symptoms...

I'll try and keep this short and to the point. Any advice is much appreciated!!

My LO, from birth projectile vomited up any milk that he has, my milk or formula. So I changed to C&G comfort, this helped greatly with the vomiting, but he still crys and screams ALL the time, no exhaduration, since the day he was born hes cryed 90% of the time, its heartbreaking. Anyways, he was starting to really refuse feeds, usual arching back, hiccups.. took him to the GP at 4 weeks, he was not interested as LO was putting on weight. At 9 weeks we ended up at A&E as I coudnt get him to take anything, and he was dehydrated etc. Prescribed Domperidone and Ranitidine for silent reflux - excelent I thought, finally he will not be in pain poor lil thing.

Two weeks and three days later - No change, if anything hes worse than when he was not on these meds.

Any ideas?? Has this happened to anyone here?

Hypoalergenic milk worth a go? Does it sound like he could have an alergy, would the ranitidine work if it was an alergy?

Many Many Thanks in advance for any replies!!

You know your baby and I think your instincts sound correct. I would agree that this definitely needs further investigation. I would go back to the gp. Is there another one in the practice you could go to? There could be a feeding clinic he could be referred to. These often have a team including paediatrician, slt, dietician.

I'm sure there are people on here who know about milk substitute formulas and whether these have to be prescribed.

I used to be a slt feeding specialist when I worked and when both my two had reflux it was very stressful- even with background knowledge! They were just about controlled by gaviscon and no allergy was involved at that time (ds has other allergies now).

I wish your ds well and hope you get all this sorted out asap.

Is there a reason that you've started this thread again Clio, rather than continuing on the one that it was already being discussed on?

But you already have an appointment to go back there tomorrow for testing for CMP allergy, and I already suggested the hypo-allergenic milks on the other thread!

For info, I think it would be classed as an intolerance rather than an allergy. My dd had the same symptoms (except that she still fed) and it was classed as an intolerance, which there aren't conclusive tests for. The paed should suspect this is the case just from your description, and prescribe the formula to try.
