Anyone has similar issues under eye inflammation?

This has been going on for a good few months, been to the GP who weren’t very helpful despite me telling them my left eye was stinging/painful at times. They sent me a link to be seen for minor eye issues at one of the local opticians. They checked things and although there was a scratch in the lower eye, they said this was like an old one and wouldn’t be causing these issues I am having.

I know my under eyes/eyes in general look worse in the last year or so due to age/hormones, stress etc. I have noticed a change in appearance which I have posted on here before about.
but my left one is the problem it gets puffy like to the outer side stings, burny feeling, looks red/but dark circle at the same time.
I would expect that if it were due to products it should affect both, but then maybe not.

I have had to be a bit careful with eye creams, as although they are made for that area, many are full of ingredients. And especially all the anti aging ones with acids in etc, although I’m sure low strength. I do use Miceller water daily i don’t rub or scrub with the cotton pads, have used for years, because I found 1/2 good for mascara removal etc.
But I have found some sting or probably just exacerbate what i already have going on.
A dermatologist I saw for skin condition on my hands we had a quick chat about my eye and she said she found Miceller to dry/irritate more.

So it brought me back to thinking what did we/our mothers etc use before these kinds of products came out.

A few suggested a balm then wash after, but although I know some are made to be used around the eyes, i don’t like the idea of rubbing right over the eyes and not getting in my eye, then it all starts to melt and keep wiping off, and then I feel like you are just having to keep doing it more and more to remove makeup.

So any suggestions/similar skin complaints and ideas of products that work but soothing really nice/good, I would be greatful thankyou!

Have you tried stopping mascara? That can be a huge irritant

I have similar symptoms and just in my case it’s either seborrheic dermatitis, blepharitis, or hayfever. I make sure to clean eyelids well regularly, and when it flares I use the Optase tea tree eyelid cleanser

I switched to tubing mascara because it’s so easy to remove with just water, also smudges less. When my eyelid skin is flaring I don’t wear any makeup

When my eyelid skin flares I also am careful to avoid applying my chemical spf too close as it has high alcohol content (I use La Roche posay UVmune)

I would second that it could be Blepharitis - inflammation of the eyelids.

You need to clean your eyelids regularly - warm water and a few drops of baby wash or you can buy specialist products (Blephacare etc) such as cleansing wipes. It also improves if you soak a clean cloth or cotton wool in very hot water and hold them against your eyes. You can also get a cream to rub into your eyelids.

I find pollen season tends to make it worse so I use allergy eye drops on those days as well.

I know what you mean the mascara is okay, been using same one for years. This is the under eye.

It’s the under eye area. I was thinking the same if it is some sort of dermatitis or other inflammation like you mentioned.

Have you tried antihistamine for allergies and sudocreme overnight on the affected area?
