Should I contact the GP after my three year old's wasp sting?

My 3 year old daughter was stung by a wasp on her arm on holiday. She got over it very quickly and hardly made a fuss. There was a small red mark similar to a mosquito bite on her arm but over the next morning her face was very swollen, her eyes looked tiny, but she seemed fine in herself. I gave her Benadryl and after a few days the swelling went away, she was left with what looks like eczema (she’s never had eczema before this) behind her knees and on her cheeks. The skin is red and rough but is improving.
now I am worrying she may be allergic and have a more severe reaction if she is stung again, should I contact the doctor or is this normal for a first sting? Thank you

It’s always worth checking in with GP. Did you take pictures etc? X

Yes, speak to the GP. That's a very big reaction.

It isn’t normal for a first sting, no. DD was stung on the knee in the morning at nursery and there was no visible evidence of it by the time we collected her.

I’m not sure if the GP would refer to allergy clinic, but definitely worth calling and asking. DD had an allergic reaction to something and our GP effectively said “assume she is allergic and avoid it.” But I think it is probably dependent on where you live.

Okay, thank you. Yes I did take pictures. I would have taken her straight to a doctor but she was completely fine in herself, no breathing difficulty, playing, eating and drinking as normal. I will phone up Monday and see what they suggest. Thanks!

Yes speak to the GP. Second reaction can be anaphylaxis

If you have e consult, put in an online form with photos attached, it’s perfect for this kind of thing. Definitely carry Benadryl in the future, but she may need an EpiPen possibly, for the dr to determine. Are you sure it was a wasp and not a hornet, the stings are worse

Yes GP ASAP, because that's a pretty bad reaction. The next time could be worse and that could mean her insides swelling and her stopping breathing before you can get help. You probably need an epi-pen in case.
