Gluten free spaghetti

Can anyone recommend a brand of gluten free spaghetti which doesn't leave a gloopy mess after being cooked and drained?

I've tried the Waitrose brand made with rice and corn - it needs constant stirring and so much scrubbing to clean the pan and colander afterwards which I literally don't have the energy to do (I have ME/CFS and I'm also gluten-intolerant).

Thanks

If you can tolerate buckwheat, then I recommend buckwheat pasta. Not the same colour but tastes like real pasta.
The GF supermarket stuff needs watching like a hawk, and probably cooking for a minute less than it says on the tin.

I've used the one from Tesco for years with no problems.

Sainsburys is brilliant.

Would cook it slightly less time if adding to a sauce

Garafalo. Often on special offer!

twilighteaser · 02/02/2026 18:37

Do you have the brand Rummo in UK? We use here it in Italy and it is one of the better ones.

MiddleAgedDread · 02/02/2026 18:39

I’ve never had an issue with Sainsbury’s but you do need to stir and separate it during cooking. Maybe try adding a drop of oil to the water too.

Pearlstillsinging · 02/02/2026 18:41

I use buckwheat pasta. It doesn't take long to cook.

Just ordinary Asda gf pasta on the ‘free from’ shelves. Not even especially expensive. Add a drop of oil to the water and make sure you keep the strands / shapes separated while cooking. Don’t overcook. Drain, shake, add a tiny bit of oil or butter quickly to keep separated.

Also I think it’s Aldi that does fusilli made with beetroot and lentil flour. Same cooking technique.

Rummo or Garafallo (sp?) even the normies will eat this!

TequilaNights · 02/02/2026 18:49

Sainsburys gluten free pasta is my gp to.

Anon1231990 · 02/02/2026 18:52

Garafalo...best gf pasta, spaghetti etc IMO can get it on ocado

Upstartled · 02/02/2026 18:54

I use the Tesco one but you have to use a ridiculously big pan to cook it otherwise it sticks together and does go gloopy.

CMOTDibbler · 02/02/2026 18:55

Rummo or Garafolo. There is a great range of the different shapes of both on Amazon, and worth price checking as it’s often cheaper than the supermarkets

isitmytime · 02/02/2026 18:59

Rummo is my go to for GF pasta. Can barely notice the difference. It’s usually on offer in Sainsbury’s or Tesco

WonderingWanda · 02/02/2026 19:43

The spaghetti always seems much worse than the pasta for gloopyness and slime. I find Tesco own brand better than some others.

RubyTrees · 02/02/2026 20:37

@WideOpenBeaches @Pearlstillsinging I've tried buckwheat but it's quite heavy and doesn't agree with me.

@Upstartled @WonderingWanda that sounds just like the Waitrose one!

I'm going to try Rummo and Garafolo first and report back...

Thanks all.

I didn't order any Garofalo pasta after all - it has tapioca starch which gives me bad stomach pain. All GF bread, biscuits and cake seem to have tapioca and/or potato starch so I've had to give up all kinds of treats.

PPs who mentioned Sainsbury's GF pasta - thanks, will be trying that next.

Tesco Finest has more interesting shapes than the ordinary one and is great.

Tesco Finest has more interesting shapes than the ordinary one and is great.

Sadly it's got the problematic potato starch...
