CMPA breastfeeding mums - what are we eating??

So my 4 month old has just been diagnosed with CMPA. I’m cutting dairy from my diet and I’m currently wandering around the house starving cos there’s nothing I can eat 😂 cutting out soya too so that makes it trickier! Give me you fave meal and snack ideas if you’re in the same boat! 🥰

I’m plant-based and also have a child with milk allergy so can help with ideas in terms of what we tend to eat..!
Snack ideas:

  • oat bars
  • dark chocolate (check ingredients)
  • hummus & pita
  • apple slices & nut butter
  • Veg crisps
  • flapjacks/baked goods - use a non dairy spread instead of butter eg Flora Buttery and use oat milk (Oatly Barista best as has a higher fat content)
  • there are various “accidentally vegan” treats eg Oreos, party rings etc. Just check packets

Meal tweaks:

  • we do use tofu/tempeh but if you’re avoiding soy you could use the following for protein: chick peas, butter beans or other beans, lentils, vegan “meat” made with pea protein
  • to make creamy sauces I blend cashew nuts (soak first) with oat milk & seasoning. If cooking with non-dairy milk check it’s one with no sugars added
  • You can use vegan cream or cheese if you like them in place of dairy

@StrawberryKetchup02 thank you so much! Love the “accidentally vegan” treats!

Tofu is going to be out of the OP is cutting out soya too?

Have you done a bread yet that is both DF and SF?

StrawberryKetchup02 · 13/01/2026 12:47

Yes tofu would be out too. Sourdough bread has no soya in (and very few breads have dairy in). To be honest the percentage of soya flour in packaged bread is so low so I wouldn’t worry too much.
