can i give my ds sillge vaccines instead of the mmr if my son has an egg allergy?

MY son has a severe egg allergy and had the mmr with no problem.
I was worried about it but his allergist reassured me.He was tested with a skinprick test (mmr)before the injection and nothing came up so he was fine.
It is safe to have at the gp's if they have adrenaline which they will no doubt have.
My ds had it at age 2 so I did delay a while ,mainly because I was concerned that the mmr is given too early ,but that's a whole differnet subject.

Was the skin prick test just with a little bit of the actual vaccine?

My ds is nearly 2 and I haven't done it yet because of egg allergy. Whenever I try to ask pertinant questions health specialists either don't know or tell me there is no risk.

I am concerned as he is so sensitive that he will react to the neomycin as well.

Valentine, my DS has an egg allergy (breaks out in hives down left arm, left eye puffs up) and I decided to give him the single vaccines as not keen on mmr. I went to e-med.co.uk who are based at St John and Elizabeth in St Johns Wood, London. I talked to the nurse about his egg allergy, because they asked, and told me they don't offer the egg free vaccine but they could put me in touch with somebody who does. I chose the normal single vaccine and DS had no problems at all. I think if there is a respiratory reaction from eating egg, they are cautions, but just a skin reaction is not a worry to them.

My allergist(or rather ds's allergist) was very reassuring that the mmr was completely safe for ds regarding the egg allergy.I did not discuss any connections with autism as I had researced the issue myself by reading up various guides (the vaccine guide is a good one ,got it from amazon).Most medics tow the party line regarding vaccines so there's not much point bringing it up.
I was happier for him to have the mmr at a later age as his immune system was more developed.

The allergist(Hourihane at Southampton )was quite peeved that I hadn't had ds vaccinated at the gp.I needed the reassurance from him that everything would be okay so was happy to put up with a disgruntled consultant and have ds vaccinated at the hospital.

yes bobbybob it was a drop of the actual vaccine that was used for the skinprick test.

My ds1 suffers with egg allergy and we had sepvax with Direct health 2000. I spoke to a Dr there before his mumps vaccine which we were told was the one that was actually develpped in the egg, but as he is able to eat cooked eggs with no problem I was reassured that he would be fine. He was

The NHS says it's okay to have MMR with egg allergy but usually give it within a paediatric ward.
Don't know if you can get single vaccines instead on the NHS - can't seem to here in Somerset.

valentine, as you know (I'm sure we've spoken before somewhere!) my dd has an egg allergy. When she had the first mmr, her allergy was classed as moderate to severe (but not anaphylactic). The specialist paediatrician went to lengths to point out that she was completely fine to have the mmr - she had it in the GP surgery and suffered no immediate reaction and has since had the booster and was fine.

She did however get the mild measles reaction (a measles rash and feeling a bit run down around, I think, 10 days later) but I think there is a small percentage chance of that happening with any child who has the vaccination.

DS is allergic to egg so we decided to have a single vaccine. We took him to The Holborn Clinic because they offer the Moraten Berna vaccine which is not cultured on egg. He was absolutely fine with it.
