Trying Dairy Free

We've been trialling a dairy-free diet for our little one over the past few days to help with some digestive issues—mainly trying to improve the consistency and frequency of bowel movements - previously getting 3 ,4 or 5 soft poos a day! (parenting, eh?). Thankfully, we’re seeing some positive changes (1 solid poo a day), so we're planning to continue avoiding milk, cheese, and yoghurt for the next couple of weeks.

At home, we’ve switched to soy milk and dairy-free alternatives for cheese and yoghurts. We've also asked the nursery if they can make similar adjustments during meals and snacks.

Just wondering—if the improvements continue after two weeks, would it be sensible to check in with a doctor to make sure we're making the right call long-term? Has anyone had experience with trialling dairy-free diets for similar reasons?

This sounds like a lactose intolerance rather than a CMPA?

Would really appreciate any thoughts or advice!

to add, she is 26 months old. Till now she's been on cows milk and we have been tolerating the large number of poos!

Yes we've done dairy free and DS is still dairy free. It's a lot easier now than it was a decade ago.

I would look for a qualified paediatric dietician. You've established what is likely the cause of the problem so having someone work with you on making sure her diet is meeting her needs and then eventually doing the challenges would be very useful.
