Cream for sun allergy on arms?

I remember reading on here a while ago about a suncream that helped prevent an allergic reaction to the sun but I can't remember what it was. I get a massive reaction on my arms last week on holiday (only in Austria!) and am 30 weeks pregnant so can't take antihistimines. I am desperate to prevent it happenning again.

Any ideas?

Piz buin allergy - onlt thing that works for me.

bekkaboo · 18/05/2008 21:27

lanacane is a cream to use when got heat rash, takes the rash down and cools itchiness.

Oh I see - thanks. I was thinking of something to prevent it in the first place. I will try the Piz Buin one.

I always get prickly heat unless I use a good sunscreen, piz buin was one of the only ones i found that worked well. However, last summer i was BF-ing DS and didn't want to use any products with chemicals (PFB - researched everything I used in great detail!!!) and found these lovely organic creams

Really nice to use, no prickly heat and I use the baby one on DS and so far it's been great too.

While I would love to use the Green People ones, I don't think they would be effective enough. I get more than prickly heat. 30 minutes in the sun in Austria last week caused such a severe reaction on my arms - red raised blotches that get worse and worse over days until my arms feel like they are on fire. Almost a week later, i still have raised bumps, but it is not hot and red anymore.

was wondering if the green people suntan cream would stop sun allergys.my eldest child comes out in this bumpy rash wherever the sun gets her. It is so itchy too. no matter what i put on her skin its allways the same, Would be glad of any help. Anti hystamin helps dull the itch but does not stop her from getting it in the first place.

Have you tried P20? Provided you put enough on & at least 30 mins before exposure it is supposed to do the trick.

I found Ambre Solaire Clear Protect worked very well factor 30 - it was either half-price or BOGOF in Tesco when I bought it.

Previous years I've had hideous rashes like yours, Ilana, & the Ambre Solaire did stop mine this year - mind you the only bits of me that are exposed are lower arms, neck & feet but even so, they used to get the rash before & haven't this year. (It still leaves yellow stains on everything though, there doesn't seem to be a way round that!)

I have just had an awful pmle reaction. Since then i have been using the piz buin 1 day long 30+ which seems to be working well so far.

Hi, I am not sure if this will help but recently my toddler came up in a prickly heat type rash after applying NIvea. Then I tried Simple as I get prickly heat and that has prevented it for me. It brought her up in (Factor 50) a rash! So I used Pro Derm, a foam from the internet recommended by the health visitor. This brought her arms up in awful hives! It was supposed to be good for sensitive skin. So I searched the web and now use No Scent Sun Cream, by Green People (organic). It's only factor 25 but she doesn't react to it at all! I would certainly recommend that for everyone, give it a try.

hi
wot uve got sounds to me like PLE (polymorphic light eruption) which is an allergy to well sun basically!! I get this and it is awful, the only thing ive found that works is taking beta-carotene 3 months prior to going on holiday, try to get some sun on my body in the uk before going abroad (seems to de-sensitise my skin) and using an anti-allergy sun lotion-i use simple, ive added a link below with some info and pictures
