Worrying about dd1 again

Hi, 2 months or so after dd1 4yo came off gluten she seems to be dropping again.
Originally she was tired all the time and asleep half of the day, depressed seeming and very bad tempered, had a lot of tamtrums and never ate anything. she also had sore tummy etc.
For the last week she has seemed exhausted all the time desopite having at least 12hours sleep every night, she has been asleep on the sofa after nursery 3 times and then again this afternoon. She seems to go from either fast asleep to manic and there is no inbetween.
I starting to really worry that we have not sorted it out, the change in her including weight gain and behaviour was so dramatic when we took her of gluten that there is no denying that she can not tollerate it so any ideas what could be happening now.

Have you tried homoeopathy? Homoeopathy is an excellent therapy for any problem, particularly for children. We use it all the time. It is our first port of call for any problem - my sister is a homoeopath. Great thing is it is perfectly safe, with no side effects and the improvements it brings are permanent. My son is autstic and it has done wonders for him. Have used it for everything from colds and coughs, ear infections, etc to fears about school. My sister has successfully treated children with ADHD, eczema, and more.

When you remove gluten, the deficiencies that had built up during the period of eating gluten don't fix themselves instantly. A lot of building-blocks that make enzymes etc are out of sync and it takes a long while to rebuild the functions and cells that make them. Also the detox pathways will be affected because of deficiencies, so you might even find that some "new" sensitivities can appear. Slowly, with right foods, these should improve.
Try to avoid carb (especially corn/maize which can have similar effect to wheat if eaten in large amounts).
Digestive enzymes can help in transition, also foods that help to increase stomach acidity (like olives in brine, sauerkraut juice) - or even secretin. Fresh fruit known for helping digestion (papaya, pineapple), soups (best if home made) etc.
Good book why gluten-free may not be enough: Gut & Psychology Syndrome by Natasha Campbell-McBride.

meant to say, try to avoid carb OVERLOAD..

'detox pathways'??................hmmm, not sure about that one..........sounds a bit , odd to me.

anyway, how well are you avoiding gluten?

what made you decide that gluten was the cultprit?
what medical advice have you had ( not that many Gps are going to help here..........!)

can agree with other poster in that once gut sensitised it can react to other foods.

my understanding of reflux and bowel intolerance its the the allergen irritates the valve at the top of the stomach.
this valve controls the gas levels in the tummy.
once this valve doenst work , we get sudden relases of gas...........which cause reflux.
This means stomach acids are irritating all gut lining continually.

as for bowel problems , again allegen irritates the lining of bowel, this can cause high levels of pain, and children can be seen to be straining hard. only to pass soft muscus stools.
in brief, red face, red bum, =food intolerence of some sort!!!

in the case of pre-school /infants etc, most common cause is milk, which should be removed from diet, with a replace ment formula such as neocate/alumenmtum.(sorrySP?.......and bit tired, hate mondays)
anyway, spend at least 6 weeks on this before introduceing partially changed allergy milks.

I am slightly milk and gluten intolerant, with asthma symptoms from over doses of both.
This is a result of severe IBS.
Am aware of how difficult it is to totally remove from diet. Am an avid label reader as have a child with a wide varity of severe food allergies.
I recommend the usual book for you
The complete guide to food intolerance and food allergy, published by gamlin, written by prof jonathan Brostoff.

As for homeopathy , have heard some good things, but one word of warning, if it turns out that your child is milk intolerant, the homeopathy might not work if drops are put on tablets that contain lactose.

A friend of mine had a child with severe classic and food intolerant allergies.
severe intolerance to milk.
The homeopath knew this and was normally careful, but one day he made a mistake.
which resulted in a young child being ill for some time and loosing yet more weight.

I am not say no to alternative medicine, but be very careful how you procede.

good luck
