can anyone advise about ds2 rash

same problems every summer. he has horrendous hayfever that barely responds to medicine, so this year he is on double the normal dose antihistamine, steroid type nasal spray, eye drops and inhaler.

but, he has come up in a rash like always. tonight it is on his arms.

we have spent the day outside and he had factor 50 on arms, neck and face. neck and face o.k so probably not the cream but arms and a bit on chest are rashy and itchy.

what can i do for him ? any ideas ?
he is 9

dd 6 the same, pink spots. she woke up yesterday itching like mad. I thought it was prickly heat/sweat rash. gave her piriton and itching settled but rash stil there.
Hopw it goes soon, sub lotion does her no good as she has excema too.

the suncream thing is a bit of a nightmare isn't it ? ds2 has had excema aswell at times although it seems to be mostly the summer now when he has trouble with his skin.

the suncream just seems to make evrything worse.

if it's any consolation- i've got that rash too!

I do tan and quite well, but for the first few days of sun my skin reacts in places. It is an allergy to UV light. Suggest you use factor 50 if you can and keep them out of the sun until the skin gets used to more sunlight.

I use Clinique as it's all allergy tested.

Certain suncreams contain chemicals that cause hives (itchy and pink spots). You may need to try another sunblock. I have to use P60 on my ds as he is allergic to all of the above, even clinique and the dermatologically tested stuff. We had to test them all to find one he did not react to.

Weird - My hayfever seems to have mutated since having kids and is far less than it used to be. I noticed that this year it generally seems to be not too bad but my arms are incredibly itchy. Also get hives/eczema. Found anything with mineral oils and/or sodium laurel/laureth sulphate makes it worse.

It feels better after a shower - rinsing off the outside world.

Could you try covering up instead? Try having your DS wearing loose cotton long-sleeved things and hats and avoiding suncreams as much as possible.
