Secondary lactose intolerance, effectiveness of diet changes?

After a couple weeks of poop dramas My GP advised DS (11months) probably had a lactose sensitivity following a diarrhoea bug. We cut out lactose (inc formula) and It had an immediate effect! BMs firmed up and became less frequent. (From 4-6 BMs a day to 1, which typically happens at nursery)

HOWEVER his nursery teachers have said they'd still say the BM is loose (tho better) and that I should take him back to the GP because there must be a different issue

.... I just feel like it hasn't been enough time.... he's been fully lactose-free since Sunday and today is Thursday morning.... Am I being unreasonable that we should just give it a bit more time before I race back to the GP? They've suggested I go back to the GP everyday so now I'm gaslighting myself into wondering whether it should have been resolved by now, I don't want to wait too long if there is medical care I should be seeking

DR Google says you should see a marked improvement within 48 hours of switching, which we did IMO (firmer BMs and dramatic improvement in frequency).... Have other people had this issue and can you speak to you about how long it took for the issue to fully resolve with a lactose-free diet?

(He is otherwise very happy, in a great mood, eating really well, etc!)

I'm an adult but it took me a couple of weeks to fully resolve.
