Milk free baby food?

Hello all,

I’m a first time poster here! My 5 month old baby is allergic to milk, he’s drinking a prescribed formula from the GP.

Can anyone recommend any oatmeal’s, porridges, cereals or other foods that don’t contain milk? I’m having a hard time finding any since all ingredients list milk somewhere.

I’d really appreciate any help 🙏🏻

These say may contain traces of milk or soy which usually means they're produced in the same factory as products that contain it.

My little one had CMPA. You don't need to feed them food marketed as baby food, just use normal supermarket oats or Weetabix for example. Babies can eat what we eat (more or less) from 6 months old, just modified by how to serve etc.

My little one has cmpa, we just use normal oats to make porridge, or normal wheatabix rather than special baby cereal (it’s a rip off in my opinion) or I think ready brek is also dairy free.
I also add fruit purée to porridge/wheatabix to make it different flavours.
I would just get reading the back of normal food packets as it will save you a fortune, and it’s often healthier with less sugar etc

You'll need to check but I'm pretty sure Aldi's porridge pouches are vegan.

We just used regular porridge or Weetabix and rice crispies once she was a bit older. We did porridge with pudding rice in the veg early days after our paediatrician suggested it as we were questioning oats.
Some of the products like ready brek are milk free but are "may contain" due to manufacturing. It most cases we keep may contains on my daughters diet as the risks are quite low. Some manufacturers take more care with cross contamination than others. I have ready brek crop up as a higher risk for cross contamination so we avoid them.

C you don't have to feed just cereals, unless you want to of course Wink

The Caroline Walker Trust has some great suggestions of first foods to try in this guide and lots of them are DF. You'll probably need from page 13.
