Cat dander removal when moving to a new house

my husband and I are moving to a house where a cat has been living previously for many years (a cat of the current owner). While we both love cats and do not have allergies, my 15 yo sister is very severely allergic to cats. She currently lives abroad but may visit next year, so knowing that (and having had horrible experience previously where she could not stay at my previous place after my own cat lived there) I would like to have a super deep cleaning once and for good specifically focusing on pet dander removal with anti allergy chemicals, cleaning all of the surfaces including walls with that, also removing pet odours etc. helpfully, no carpets in the house but on the stairs. I googled but have not found any specialist service in London who do specifically that (a lot of adds of just dust mites removal or using eco friendly stuff etc). Does anyone have any recommendation for a service provider who focus on that, or will I have to do that just by myself for a piece of mind…

thank you!

Have you managed to find a company that does this yet @NewbiefromL?

If the house is empty, a good deep clean should resolve most of the issues. Having moved house recently I had my house deep cleaned (when empty) for the new owners and it was spotless. I suspect that most of the companies offering deep cleans would be prepared to clean walls etc and use specific cleaning products that met your requirements? The cleaners spent 12 hours (two people, 6 hours each) and I could have eaten off the floor it was so clean.
The new owners were thrilled.

(the least said about the state of the new place the better 🙄)

@MrsOvertonsWindow thank you - would you be able to share the details of your cleaner?

It was a small London company - a family business. Not one that travels I think.

If you use a cleaning company that does end of tenancy cleans (so they will thoroughly clean everything including the tops of doors etc) and get the carpet on the stairs professionally cleaned, it’ll get rid of the dander.

Any curtains and blinds you inherit can be washed or cleaned. Over time I would imagine any remaining dander would lose its integrity and the proteins in it that cause the allergy would degrade and not be allergy inducing any more. My severely allergic friend reckons anti bac spray destroys these proteins too so it’s easy to get rid of with a good clean.
