Epipens and air travel

DC has Epipens and is going on a school trip abroad soon. I have blithely assumed that these days airport security everywhere must be familiar with Epipens, but had a sudden thought that maybe DC will need to bring a letter from the doctor or something like that? Anybody have any advice on this please?

I took a copy of the prescription..i got a copy from the pharmacy. That was enough. You do also need to protect it from getting too hot or cold, they sell insulation tube thingies on amazon that are quite good at that.

Thank you! DC has an allergy treatment plan thing, a single sheet - perhaps that will do... I'll have a look at these insulated tubes.

We've never brought anything with us, just the prescription labels on the pen canisters. In our experience security couldn't care less about epipens. A copy of the action plan will do no harm (and good to have anyway).

DS went away with school (we've never had a family holiday).
He had a letter from the GP and a copy of his action plan. He didn't have any problems.
