Baby eczema

Hi,
I’ve got a 4 month old who has had eczema since quite early on. She’s been getting quite a few flare ups recently. The GP prescribed her aveeno cream for dry and sensitive skin which has kept her skin moisturised and a bath solution (double base emollient bath additive) to use for baths. Most days are good but don’t know what’s causing her skin to flare up. She itches quite abit around the front and back of her neck and legs. This is a daily thing. Just wondering if she’s possibly allergic to something. I exclusively BF her and have stopped dairy for 2 weeks now. Any advice or tips would mean a lot as it gets very overwhelming and confusing with so much information out there. Thanks in advance x

I would keep a food diary for a month to 6 weeks. My son's eczema started around 6 weeks on his face and he was exclusively breastfed bar 10 ml formula on day 3 at hospital. He was diagnosed allergic to dairy and eggs at 6 months.
I would keep an eye on your diet but also do not discounts otc steroids like hydrocortisone.
We use Bioderma wash and moisturizer and if I had my way again would use steroids sooner. If baby is bad ask for referral to dermatologist or ask if your doctors surgery have an onsite dermatology nurse.
Google scratchsleeves, we found them great, you need to make sure that baby does mot get used to scratching.

I would stop the aveeno as it contains oat which is a top14 allergen and see if that makes a difference. This was how my friend identified her son's oat allergy.
I was always told to avoid any creams with oats or coconut etc until after weaning and you know they are safe

You could try switching to a different washing powder for her clothes and bedsheets, see if that helps

Yes I’ve started making a food dairy. And I was using the hydrocortisone cream for a few days when it was flaring up however completely stopped that now. I will check the moisturiser out and the scratch sleeve! Thank you!

Ah yes so I’ve been contemplating that. Any other moisturiser that I could use then apart from aveeno and coconut oil that won’t be classed as a food allergy?

We have used epiderm, aqueous or hydromol but my daughter only has mild skin rashes and not much eczema. Most of the time it's in response to an allergy reaction so we use antihistamines too
