Hives and Lyme disease

Looking for some help please before I lose my mind!!! Roughly just over a week ago I had a massive bullseye rash that gp said looked like Lyme disease and prescribed me 26 day course of amoxicillin (I'm 14 weeks pregnant) at the same time I started to break out in hives. I was given steroid cream which has even done anything and an anti histamine to take at night which works for a few hours
But back to square one. Iv tried Eurax both gel and cream and nothing. It goes down in some places but pops up in new ones. My hands and feet are worse and keep me awake a massive shut of the night because they are itchy. I'm limited on what I can take but I'm miserable.

Did you get the hives after starting the antibiotic? I come out in an itchy rash all over with any penicillin type antibiotics.

It sounds as if you are allergic to the amox. It's a form of penicillin, so allergies to it are common. There is always a possible danger of anaphylaxis, so you have to be careful. Ask your doctor for doxycycline, which is a better drug for Lyme disease anyway. You need at least four weeks of the doxy. Even better is doxy plus azithromycin.

No the hives came up on the Saturday. I started the antibiotics on the Monday. I
Can't take doxy as I'm pregnant and it's not safe to use (according to my gp) iv had amoxicillin before and never broke out in hives. Just wondering if it's something to do with the Lyme disease

I hope you get to the bottom of this OP. Itching in pregnancy, especially on the hands and feet can be a sign of obstetric cholestasis (OC) so I would give your midwife a call today, as if it is that you will need extra monitoring.
