Allergic to Apple?

Yesterday DS1(4yrs) ate an apple and then said that his mouth was itching, I took a look and his lips were slightly swollen and very red and the roof of his mouth was also very red, I gave him some antihistamine and it calmed down. The strange thing is though he was drinking apple juice yesterday and was absolutely fine with that. So could he be developing an allergy to apples or not?
He had skin prick testing done in January and we found out that he is allergic to beans, peanuts, shellfish and dustmites (aleady knew about wheat and milk) and I'm racking my brain trying to rememberif they tested him for apple or not. They tested for loads of things and used both arms to do it so I'm just not sure. I'm also not sure what to do, do I leave it a couple of days and try him with apple again and see what happens or do I make him avoid apples. Do I ring the allergy clinic or is it not necessary, he hasn't got another appointment now until March next year.
In October last year DS had this kind of reaction to eating baked beans (half a tin) by January he had had 3 further reactions to beans each worse than the last until now just eating one bean (nicked off his sisters plate) caused a lot of swelling of his lips and mouth and the allergy clinic have told us not to give him any legumes at all.

Advice, as always, is greatly appreciated.

I think it's salocites in apples that can cause allergies. There are definitely some other MNers who are allergic to them.

Ring the doc/allergy clinic.

Psychomum is allergic to apples and milk, and it started out as tingles but has gotten worse over time.

i'm allergic to apples - but only when they're raw (blistering on lips & mouth). I was tested when I was 16 at the brompton allergy clinic & told that apple & birch trees are an allergy pair. If you're allergic to one, you have a very high likelihood of being allergic to the other. (the other common pair is latex and kiwi - odd i know!). Allergies (i was told) are to the proteins in things and those get killed when cooked.

I was given an epipen and told to carry it around everywhere with me. Which, of course, I did for about 3 days. So far, no anaphylactic shock....

I have hayfever from birch trees and can't eat raw apples, plums, pears, peaches and sometimes kiwi - I get itchy lips with some blistering and itchy mouth.

Never had any testing - started in my teens - I just avoid them. I am fine when they are cooked. However with a child I'd get them to doc.

I know they tested him for grasses and pollens. They said he isn't allergic to any grasses or pollens even though he gets hayfever every year

My dad was allergic to apples for a while - I think with some of these things, it is a cumulative effect that triggers the allergy. EG you eat one type of fruit and are fine, then eat something else with the same allergen in it and it causes a reaction. If you had just eaten the second thing on its own you might have been ok.

For some reason with my dad, it just lasted a couple of years - had eaten them for decades with no reaction and is ok now... I suspect he had been overindulging in my mums apple tarts that year!

My son is not allowed apples as he is allergic to salicylates which are high in apples. I found the salicylate sensitivity forum very hepful. Have I spelt it right? Salicylate? Salycilate?

It could be 'oral allergy syndrome' which funnily enough does what it says on the tin! I think it might be linked to hayfever so therefore raw apple could affect him more than apple juice that is probably not as fresh - IYKWIM.
