Looking for advice in desperate. When my baby was 2 weeks old she developed a belly button infection. Went into hospital for 2 days 2 lots of iv antibiotics and then oral at home. Since then my little one has struggled feeding screaming on the bottle pushing it away never content after a bottle. Went back to hospital diagnosed as reflux put on lanzoprazol for 6 weeks. Finished that course and it did nothing in that time the health visitor and dr suggested trying other milks. We have been on hop organic which made her constipated , cow and gate which she just screamed , cow and gate comfort which she was okay with but still the same on the bottle sma althera she hated wouldn’t take we decided to go back onto Kendamil which she was on from the start. However she was still the same we have tried carobel thickner and gaviscon also no joy. On Kendamil I also noticed that she would go for a poo on the bottle nearly most feeds, she is also struggling with putting on weight only out 4oz on in 9days. I’m struggling here and dreading feeding times we have been out on nutremgen amino to see bit tbh I don’t think it’s milk. Any advice attached is what my little ones poos were on Kendamil just to see if anyone thinks they were dioreah. I’m at breaking point and she at most will only take 3-4 oz she is now 3pm the old. We have been on this milk for 3 days now and still the same

It could be cmpa, it could also still be reflux my daughter had to go to the maximum dose of omperazole and as much gaviscon as I could get in her to see any benefit and ultimately needed a third medication, domperidone, to get it under control. She is 4 now and is still on this combination.
She also has multiple food allergies and these cause her reflux to be worse.
Nutramigen puramino contains soya and half of babies react to both soya and dairy. Alfamino and neocate are both better amino acid formulas as they are both dairy and soya free. These formulas are also very thin and can trigger reflux so need thickeners. My daughter was allergic to carob too so we stuck with gaviscon. It can take several weeks for the gut to heal from the prolonged exposure to the allergen.

If the baby still has reflux constant screaming and not feeding properly is unfortunately normal. It's horrible getting heartburn after every meal if you're an adult, it must be terrible for an infant who can't do anything about it except stop feeding.

Have you been told about keeping her as upright as possible during and after feeds, supported under her arms so her back isn't slumped and her abdomen putting pressure on her stomach? Raise the head of her cot so she sleeps raised, let her lie on her left side sometimes to keep the acid away from her oesophagus. Keep her upright as much as possible between feeds as well, a sling might help.

When my baby had reflux, a very long time ago now, the most successful feeds were where I held him under his armpits and let the rest of him dangle. But once he was put on Ranitidine and Domperidone it was like magic, he put on half a pound in the first week, fed properly after just the first dose. So do ask your GP if something like that might help.

And six weeks? Mine was on medication for a year and still at over 20 takes antacids occasionally. But once they can sit up by themselves it gets a whole lot better.

Nappy looks normal.
