Hi everyone. My son is suffering from bad hayfever (He's 8) and I'm desperate for anything that'll help. I want to buy an air purifier but have no idea what I should be looking for - they seem to vary in price a lot.

I've been looking at Nscessity Plasma/UV/Ionic Air Purifier with Fan in Argos. £100.

Any advice would be great.

Think the more you can afford to pay the better, ours cost about 50 pounds and is some use. Worth checking the cost of replacement filters before you buy - I bought my brother this one www.johnlewis.com/230227922/Product.aspx as it has a washable pre-filter. However you may want to consider other things - like the medinose type device Lloyds sell or putting vaseline around his nose to trap pollen. You can even get pollen traps that fit in his nose.

You might also find that switching to goats milk instead of cows makes a difference - or even avoiding milk completely in the hay fever season. Some people swear by local honey but you need to start that in advance of the hay fever season.
