Lactose free formula causing diarrhoea??

Hi, so my baby has been on cow & gate formula the reflux one and still very sicky and unsettled. The drs did prescribe a cows milk protein free one but that wasn’t for him. He is on omeprazol for reflux. But we thought maybe trying a lactose free formula so he’s on SMA lactose free and has stopped being sick and slightly happier! BUT his poos are now explosive and mega runny.. I’m talking a poonami every time. Should I just stick with the normal SMA as he clearly didn’t get on with cow & gate? Unsure of what to do as it’s not cheap all these formulas. Reluctant to go back to the drs as have been a lot to do with reflux and been fobbed off and only finally got the medication we asked for because my baby kept being sick on the dr 🤦🏼‍♀️ although he still made a dig that it’s an expensive medicine 🤦🏼‍♀️
thank you! Any advice welcome!

How old is your baby?

You could look at non-dairy formulas. I looked into all this when DD was a baby and thought that Nannycare looks like a good option. It's goats milk formula. As well as not being cow's milk it avoids some of the overly-processed ingredients in the main brands of formulas which can be difficult to digest.

I found a nice balance of half SMA lactose free and half SMA anti reflux. The lactose free on its own was very thin and added to the sicky issue plus it makes poos very runny. The half & half combined with Omeprazole medicine every morning 30 mins before first bottle was the winning combination for fewer sicky, refluxy & runny poo problems.

Amazing, he’s 12 weeks old. So he has 6oz, so 3oz Lf and 3oz normal or reflux milk? He’s not sicky anymore which is great but the Poonamis are real 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

Yes, try 3oz of each and see if his tummy settles. We found there were tummy troubles on and off throughout the bottle stage. Things improved at 6 months when introducing solids.
