I have a peanut allergy. We have a nut free household.
As part of weaning, DC had some minimal exposure to peanut - tried twice and no reaction. So that was around 6mo.
DC hasn’t had peanut since and now I’m freaking out about them having it again as so worried will now have allergy through lack of esposure. I feel I’ve made a huge mess of it.

Shall I just try it?
Or go through some proper allergy testing?

any advice appreciated

If you do try, I'd wait until Monday morning when the Doctors is open, just in case.

We have similar. We never have peanuts in the house and only realised eldest is allergic when she was 4, and then realised we'd never tried youngest (she was weaned the week of a bereavement so good practice went out the window).

The allergy specialist gave us <a class="break-all" href="https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=www.bsaci.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/pdf_Infant-feeding-and-allergy-prevention-PARENT-SUMMARY-FINAL.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiv7sy27LiGAxVPBNsEHSQhDLsQFnoECA0QBg&usg=AOvVaw2IuLOKq63LnQZElHR0fCru" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this handout. She recommended we start with Bamba puffs, then step up to peanut butter mixed with banana, then regular peanut butter/peanuts.

In truth we've been lax, but she's fine with the Bamba.

It's now thought that rubbing on the skin can sensitise them, so don't do that.

Good luck. Smile

I don’t have any solid advice as I’m in a similar boat to you. I just wanted to let you know it’s not just you who is anxious about this. Mine is nearly 4 and I got as far as him kicking some of his lips around 1 and haven’t done it since as I don’t drive and wanted to be near a hospital but leave rurally! I need to know before he starts school if he would react as school is rural too so my thinking is better to know. I just am in two minds how to find out, test now with small amounts aside the hospital praying he doesn’t react badly or go through GP referral for allergy testing. I hope you find the solution you need, I know it’s hard.
