My son has reacted with hives to dairy egg and wheat. Hes had blood tests which showed he had high numbers of igE antibodies to dairy, wheat, egg, nuts, carrots and rice.
Hes never had skin prick tests as hes always had bad eczema which has finally resloved and im not keen to disrupt his skin barrier with possible allergens after the horrendous eczema journey weve been through.
We went private for his allergy appt as we are STILL waiting for NHS referral (its ridiculous) I am keen for some advice on introducing foods, weve been able to give him carrots and rice with no reactions (but he never had a physical reaction to these anyway - im aware blood tests are notorious for false positives)
Anyway getting to the point.. ! This morning at playgroup he accidently had a bite of a breadstick (ate about a 1cm of breadstick), this is something hes reacted with hives to previously, hes had no reaction and im plesantly pleased with this mistake now!
My thoughts are now in hope of he doesnt have so many allergies, maybe his reactions were more so because of the state of his skin previously? Would anyone give a bit of wheat again after this experience?
Im aware I should prob speak to a professional but after various private allergy and derm appts weve run out of money. Anyone have any experience of allergies going after eczema resolves? Of introducing wheat after previous reaction? Ive googled "wheat ladder", is this a thing? Weve successfully done the egg ladder with my daughter and ive read the earlier in age children are when starting ladders the better..
Any thoughts/suggestions thank you! Thanks for reading! (Continuing to push for our NHS appt) xx
