My daughter suffered from eczema as a baby, then grew out of it by maybe 6/7. Only ever had it on her skin creases. A few months ago she developed some around her eye, and a a small patch on her forehead. I've taken her to the GP a few times, at first they would only prescribe non steroid creams. Eventually, they have give her one 7 day course of a mild steroid cream. It cleared up within the first day. We continued with the treatment as instructed. Now she has finished the course two days ago and it's back already! She is still using her prescribed moisturises as instructed. I will book her another Gp appointment to discuss this, but shes at an age where it's upsetting her she's quite shy and obviously doesn't like kids pointing it out at school. It does get very red and obvious and can look very sore. Any ideas in the meantime ?

Does she use those moisturisers on any other body parts? I’d try a patch test on an arm (or somewhere that has fairly robust skin and not visible under clothes) with the moisturisers to see if one is causing a problem.

I’ve had eczema since being a child and react to almost everything. A lot are ok for a while but then I start reacting and then there’s no going back. I used to frequently having GPs not believing me that I wasn’t using anything else but anything with a standard cream base doesn’t work for me.

The eczema coming straight back must be being caused by something.

Could the eczema be allergy related?

muggart · 30/03/2024 09:42

Could try removing dairy, eggs and / or wheat. Obviously that's quite a lot to eliminate at once so maybe try one by one and see if any improvement?

Thanks for replies- yes was thinking allergies, just not sure what to

I'd cut out milk first? My DSis had eczema on her face, my DPs cut dairy out of her diet and the eczema cleared.

Did you wean off the steroid or just stop it after 7 days? GPs don't seem to know or advise the importance of weaning off otherwise it leads to a rebound flare x also if it clears after one day there's no need to treat for 7. The advice is treat until it clears plus 1-2 additional days then wean off x

Hello, try The Aron Regime. It's life changing and got rid of my son's eczema within weeks. Good luck!

bumblebubble23 · 02/05/2024 22:48

The GP has never said this, they do think it's possibly infected now so she is on a stinger course of steroid cream for 7 days.

Thanks I will try this I've never heard :)

@Yamazous is this something your GP worked with you on?

My DS is sufferering recurrent eczema which always gets infected and needs antibiotics etc.

hoping for a miracle cure.

Yamazous · 25/06/2024 15:07

Hi no I had to go private but then GP agreed to issue 3 diff prescriptions and I mixed them at home. Honestly only needed to use it on him for less than 2 months and it was gone forever. The antibiotics gets rid of the underlying infection. If you don't use that as far as I understand the eczema will keep returning. Sorry am rushing writing this but message if you need more help.

GimmeGin · 25/06/2024 16:15

Thank you. He got a prescription today so will see what’s been prescribed. But think it’s just a short course of antibiotics again.

GimmeGin · 25/06/2024 16:16

Plus the usual steroid cream and diprobase.
