5 month old struggling with feeding and nights

I’m feeling really deflated. My 5 month old has always had reflux- we switched to reflux milk early which seemed to help her. She has also been congested since birth- nothing helps (I’ve tried it all!) it’s worst at night and she has now developed a cough after getting a cold- she has been coughing for about a month which is worst after feeding as she gags splutters. The congestion was mucas when she had a cold, but now back to being stuffy and blocked.

When feeding, the last few weeks she has arched her back and squirmed- about 3/6 bottles in the day she refuses it after 2 ounces and is then so hungry during her next feed. I thought she couldn’t breathe but now wondering if she is in pain when feeding. A few times on the night after feeding, she has coughed and literally projectile vomited it back up. It takes her between 1-2 hours to go back down to sleep after a night feed as she is coughing and squirming. I’m exhausted.

any experiences of this? She is a big baby and she is putting on weight fine (she was born nearly 11 pounds!)

I have contacted the doctors today as have taken her a couple of times for the cough when I thought it was just cold related and they said her chest was fine. But now wondering if it’s something else to do with her feeding causing it?

It could be cmpa but I would say it is almost certainly reflux that isn't being controlled with the reflux formula. I would be approaching the GP about reflux treatment and possibly a trial of dairy free formula

Yes definitely see the GP if you haven't already. She needs a formula suitable first babies with CMPA and possibly a referral to a Paediatric Dietician and some anti-reflux meds.

This article from Allergy UK is useful to read before seeing the GP.

If she's that snuffly I'd also think about the possibility of House Dust Mite Allergy. I have both.
