What is a food allergy rash?

Hi I was wondering if anyone knew the standard type of rash people get for food allergies? I always see itchy hives mentioned and then people will say something that looks like a mild heat rash is a food allergy. I'm so confused. Our son was older when he had his first exposure to peanut. He had about 5 or 6 hive looking things that didn't itch on his thigh and the rest was a flatter heat rash type of thing that also didn't itch. I'm overwhelmed by the idea of my child having a rash without knowing it through any other cues.

Since then we have noticed little dots here and there on his skin that also don't bother him. Right now he has had a dotted rash on his chest and belly for almost two weeks. He feels fine and my husband thought it was from a little too much friction in that area from a shower. He swears it correlates with that time but it won't go away.

I don't know what he would be allergic to. His diet has been the same for years and we don't eat any nuts at all since his reaction. We avoid may contain and everything. Could this be dry skin aggravated by scrubbing? A seasonal eczema? My husband has some eczema seemingly year round that doesn't usually subside until maybe summer.
I'm hesitant to use topical steroids on a rash that doesn't itch or bother him.

Appreciate any advice or experiences.

Food allergy rash often comes on very suddenly when the food has been eaten. It's called urticaria and looks like a nettle rash. My DC goes red and blotchy at the same time and also has breathing difficulties. It's very obvious.

What you've described doesn't sound like this to me but I'm not a health professional so I'd check it out with your gp if you're worried.

Sorry for the late reply.

My daughter gets a sandpaper rash due to allergies. It is rarely red but it can go red. If you run your hand over it her skin feels like sandpaper. It typically takes 4-6 weeks to go applying aqueous cream twice a day and a steroid cream if it is bad and antihistamines before bed when it is itchy
She has delayed allergies and the rash can appear a day or so after an exposure. It is usually her arms and torso that are affected
