I have a letter from GP that I keep with me when traveling.I have never had to show it to anyone though.
I also carry the repeat prescription.

Yes, I would get gp/consultant to do a letter to be sure.

I have diabetes and always take a letter and repeat prescription to cover all the paraphenalia. Not once been asked to show letter but better safe than sorry!

Thanks.Off to request a letter.

Our doctors charge for a letter so I always carry the management plan instead. Have flown loads of time with Epipens and never been asked!

Perhaps a bit late for this but I also carry a letter, and when travelling to the US, I'm always asked for it.

i carry an epipen and was searched on the way ino NY two years ago, ive also got all the diabetes crap to carry! In the end i had to show my prescriptions and warning bracelet to the supervising officer, who then stamped my passport with a medical equipment warning notice.

it would be good to inform the airline at check in what you are carrying and also tell the customs as soon as you step up to them.

What??? did they stamped your passport with a medical equipment warning notice? do you hae an american passport? otherwise I wonder if that is legal

Having said that, after I mentioned the epipen at the check-in the three of us (including then 3yrs old DS) were severely searched last time we were there (They marked our boarding passed). I have gone through a lot of hand searching but this one was very humilliating and well beyond the limits. If I had not family the other side of the Atlantic I wouldn't be returning to the US ever in my life. (as you can see, my blood still boils at remembering that)

The thing they put in my passport was more of a medical alert type stamp "Warning: medicla equipment carrier"

my sister ha sthe same thing as she works for a medical company and it allows the check in staff to see before she gets to being searched that the customss people know what she carries. Im sure it was more of a early warning thing than singleing me out. I was told taht they dont do it for children as medical conditions/treatments can change so much, but for adults its ok. It might have had something to do with being on a student visa at the time...
