Came across a follow up study of children with nut allergy. The parents had been given good training, but although many children still had reactions few were severe.

"Of 615 subjects followed up, 21% had a further reaction mostly mild. of mild-moderate reactions, 77% required oral antihistamines alone and 15% no treatment. Only 1 had a severe follow-up reaction and only 2 used adrenaline, both successfully. Of mild-moderate reactions, 77% required oral antihistamines alone and 15% no treatment. "

Although these were probably young children and the risks are higher for teenagers thought this might help the newly daignosed deal with the anxiety.
