Infacare - good or bad for eczema?

because I can't buy cheap Simple for Baby anymore and I can get a big ole vat of Infacare for very little £

and tho the HV gave us some oily stuff the kids lie down in it and get oily hair and look like we have bathed them in sunflower oil so I am not using it anymore I don't care if this makes me a Bad Person

so should I try this? or is it back to paying £6 a whack for Green People?

I had to read that 3 times for some reason (to understand it)

I don't know what Infacare is or Simple for Baby. We used diprobase and the sunflower oil effect bath stuff.

All you can do is try it and see. Every child is different (has triggered 'every sperm is sacred' in my mind for some reason ) annoyingly so you can never really tell until you start using the creams!

oh sorry this stuff

simple for baby just the Simple range, nothing fancy

it is bath stuff

they also don't like the oil stuff cos it has no bubbles [picky] - we bath both the 3 year old, who has eczema, and the 7 year old, who doesn't, together

HV said separate baths but if she wants to bath a disabled 7 year old and get her dried, dressed, etc whilst fielding a feral 3 year old she can come round and bloody well do it herself

yes, exactly!

Just try it and see I guess, I don't know what it's like. Bubbles in the bath always made dd's skin worse (much to her brother's annoyance).

I think like you Cap, but found Infacare quite drying tbh, more so than others....
Am watching this thread with interest.....feel there is a big market for something like this

Lukesmammy · 14/03/2008 21:42

Have you tried the halo's and horns range?

I bought it for DS because it contains no SLS or parabens, not because he has eczema but simply cos I didn't like the idea of lots of chemicals.

According to the blurb on the tube it was developed by a mum who wanted to use a product that didn't aggravate her sons eczema.

I buy it in Sainsburys and Morrisons and think its about £3 a tube which I don't need to sue a lot of at each bath time. They do a body wash for babies and Kids - not sure about a bubble bath tho.

Sorry if no good, just thought I would mention it?

Washersaurus · 14/03/2008 21:53

I don't like Infacare - if you look it contains all sort of nasty chemicals, and it is quite drying.

Infaderm on the other hand has always been OK on my two eczema suffering boys, but Oilatum (the oily stuff) is the best really - but no bubbles!

Washersaurus · 14/03/2008 21:54

Oooh just spotted the ad in the header - do I get some for free now Mr/Mrs Infaderm?

Hi,
After trying about what feels like 100 bath oils, we use diprobath (kind of like oilatum, but we think not quite so oily!!), Have you tried putting bubbles in after you lo gets out? This makes our dd1 a little bit happier.
I also think its worth asking what you can get on prescription, we get all ours on presscribtion from the hv. That way you can try a few without shedding out loads of ££'s on one's that don't suit.
Our dd2's eczema really flares up with 'bubbles' too though!!
PS. Never heard of Green people!
