Zinc bandages exzema

Has anyone ever used zinc bandages for eczema? Which ones? Anyone used on a toddler/baby before? (Can you?)

thinking if buying for my 8 month old baby. He has a REALLY painful, inflamed weeping patch of eczema on his arm that hasn’t reacted to steroids, antibiotics, anti fungal etc and doctors have advised to just leave it until we see a derm (average 6 month wait).

I cover it with normal bandages but would like to try something that will ease the discomfort and hopefully help to heal it? Thoughts?

Have you tried wet wrapping? We were dubious but it worked really well for us: steroid (highest potency) on affected skin, followed by emollient and then wet wraps. Recommended by an Australian nurse - there is a how to guide if you Google wet wrapping royal Melbourne hospital.

I would try sudocrem on it, as that has zinc as an active ingredient. If it helps/doesn't make it worse then try it with a bandage on top. I don't think the paste bandages are recommended if it is weeping.

I would cover it during the day but when asleep take it off. Its need air to breathe and dry out. Ask the doctor for a cream like fucibet with steroid and antibiotic. Put that on at night and in the morning. Bath in salt water using something like Epsom salts.

Mmm might be called fudisic acid, I can't quite remember! But either way steroid plus antibiotic. They are always reluctant to give it but it works wonders.

Have you asked for a referral for paediatric allergy testing? My DS’s baby eczema was caused by his reacting to things I was eating, and then later that he was eating himself. Once we cut out all
egg, his skin was transformed

@Solasum so was ours actually. Doctor said it wasn't possible, but soon as all the foods that reacted on the skin prick were gone we cleared it in 3 months.
