Ok, so the doctors at the moment are proving to be useless, so I am looking for some advice from the parents who might have dealt with something similar.

My son, who is nearly 4, suffers from some sort of allergy. It is happening for at least 2 years now. He rubs his eyes, nose, his nose is also blocked most of the time, he sleeps with his mouth open (which is bad). These days, he rubs his eyes for around 4-6 hours a day at least.
Doctors prescribed some allergy syrups and allergy nasal spray. These don't seem to work. In regards to the sprays - my son doesn't know how to blow out his nose - it's like we spray and everything just stays inside, because he just doesn't know and no matter how much we teach him, he doesn't blows out his nose. So even temporary, the sprays don't work.

We have a huge suspicion it's dust mites he is allergic to. We have a carpeted flat and recently we took our son abroad for a couple of weeks, where we stayed in a non carpeted house and his allergy was like almost completely gone. Then we returned and the next day his watery eyes, rubbing and sneezing has returned. Unfortunately, at the moment we cannot afford to move out, but we are definitely planning to in the future to move into non-carpeted flat.

Anyone had the same problem? We are currently in the process of choosing a hoover with hepa filter and air purifier with hepa filter. Any advice on which are the best to choose?

We live in a West Devon in house which has humidity varying from 55-70, we always try to make it as low as possible using de-humidifier.

I am so frustrated with GPs, who even don't do any checks and just prescribe medication over the phone. Completely useless.

Please, please, if anyone has any advice, share experience and how did you battle this? Thank you.

Assuming it's a steroid nose spray it isn't supposed to be blown out!

Have you tried him with 'hayfever' eye drops? They are very effective for allergy prone eyes.

If you suspect dust mite allergy there's plenty of advice online to address it. There isn't very much more that doctors can do, and symptom history is a better indicator than allergy testing.

Is taking the carpet just out of his room an option?

I think I'd give Allergy UK a call and see if you have any advice too Flowers

Can you try a carpet cleaner also?
