Just that really

for years there’s something I’ve been intolerant too and I can’t work it out. I cut bread out for 2 weeks didn’t notice a difference to how I was feeling and milk the same.

I am constantly bloated. It’s been worse the last few months. Bowels aren’t normal. Loose at times but never just a normal movement. my tummy makes gurgling noises. I just feel so deflated and flat. My stomach has honestly doubled in size. Maybe more fat but just seems so flabby! (2 kids) my hair was falling out for months. Was prescribed iron tablets but nothing is working.
the dr doesn’t seem to care. I don’t know what to do. It’s quite clear something is bothering my stomach and I want to have a test to find out but they won’t do it. I know I can pay private but not sure how reliable these things are.
many advice. ?

You can see a dietician to get advice.

They can be very helpful. (Lactose intolerance here but it took a long time for symptoms to clear after I stopped eating dairy).

If you think that gluten is a possibility then you need to cut it out for a few weeks before you'll feel better.

I was told by the NHS that they don't test for intolerances and they are only interested in anaphylaxis or a sudden onset of symptoms.

You also need to learn to read labels of everything you eat because it's not obvious what allergens are in what items. For example jarred pasta sauces often contain lactose.

She shouldn't do this until she's been tested for coeliac!

I have no idea how effective they are but you can order test kits online specifically for allergens.

You could try a registered dietitian. I saw one who diagnosed my problem immediately, and I’d had years of very little help from GPs.

The OP is describing an intolerance, which cannot be tested for (so-called intolerance tests are a complete rip-off).

They are extremely effective at lightening your wallet.

Useless for anything else.

I would go in with symptoms not the diagnosis as pp suggests. Get on a list for a referral to gastroenterology.

In the meantime I'd do the AIP diet. And if you get a call for a celiac screen then make sure your resting gluten for at least 8 weeks before.
