Hi, my full body itches, there is no mark or rash that causes the itch but there are cuts and breaks in the skin due to my intense scratching. Im going insane. I can take multiple antihistamine tabs and they don't work. I have tried every moisturiser I have tried no moisturiser. Sometimes i could bet something is crawling on me. Sometimes it's like, if you've ever felt a strand of hair on you but U can't seem to find it. Any ideas

It's almost definitely not an allergy as no rash/hives.

Have you tried E45 Itch Relief?

What does your GP say?

Pixiedust1234 · 22/05/2023 22:52

Go speak with your GP. Intense itching can be a sign of liver problems. You might have an infection so don't delay.

Potter10 · 22/05/2023 22:58

Definitely warrants a trip to the gp. It could be, as above, liver or even something like scabies

laplaland · 22/05/2023 23:10

It sounds like scabies. It happened to me and my DD 2 years ago. Get the cream and boil wash everything on 60+. I hope you get sorted. X

Yarnysaura · 22/05/2023 23:17

There'd be a rash with scabies though and OP says no rash.

Scabies is usually fairly obvious with between finger itching and the tracking rash too.

007DoubleOSeven · 22/05/2023 23:39

I got like this and had really low vitamin d. Definitely see a Dr, they should run bloods and presscribe strong anti histamines

Sunshineandrainbow · 22/05/2023 23:42

Are you peri or menopausal. I have heard of this intense itching.

NGCO · 24/05/2023 19:26

Not scabies and no I'm in my house has it. It's can come for weeks and go for weeks. The only rash is from me scratching. I have the gp soon. Was supposed to go for allergies testing but fell pregnant so on the road again to trying to find the cause

Fraaahnces · 24/05/2023 19:28

Menopause? I was itchy all over

AuroraForever · 24/05/2023 19:44

Have a look up nhs chronic pruritus as there could be many causes. Have you changed anything you eat/drink?

ButterflyBitch · 24/05/2023 19:45

Could you be perimenopausal? That’s crazy itchy and drives me mad.

Whentwobecomesthree · 24/05/2023 19:50

Are you pregnant now?

Nutterjacks · 24/05/2023 20:24

Fraaahnces · 24/05/2023 19:28

Menopause? I was itchy all over

Same here - was much worse in bed of a night.

NGCO · 25/05/2023 01:19

@Whentwobecomesthree not pregnant

NGCO · 25/05/2023 01:19

@Nutterjacks og in bed it's a million times worse. Have you figured out what it is

OP posts:
NGCO · 25/05/2023 01:20

I'm assuming it's all to do with the menopause.

HyperionWarbonnet · 10/06/2023 11:18

Have you tried fasting to reduce the inflammation OP? It can be life changing for some.

CornedBeef451 · 10/06/2023 11:25

That sounds miserable OP.

I have chronic urticaria at night and take a prescription antihistamine and a cocktail of over the counter ones.

I also grease myself up with Shea butter as I find the greasy feeling stops me scratching and I just rub it instead.

Some things set me off more now so I have massively reduced sugar and also avoid various random triggers like mango and port.

Definitely see the GP as it can be a sign of something like liver problems but at least you can get better antihistamines or a referral to possibly immunology (I saw someone years ago so can't remember which department but I think it was immunology).
