What are these weird spots on my hands?

Does anyone know why I have been getting these spots the last few days?

Husband doesn’t have them so probably not insects? They usually get a white head and are full of clear liquid 😭 quite sore and sometimes itchy! I am eczemic but that’s OK at the moment.

OMG! Following because I’ve been getting these too! Mine are mostly on my fingers. No loads, just a few. They don’t hurt but they are itchy and like you say have clear fluid inside. Sometimes when they pop they can get quite infected, that’s when they hurt! No idea what it is!

golddustwomen · 12/05/2023 16:34

Bloody hell, also following as I have been getting there too! Confused

golddustwomen · 12/05/2023 16:34

These*

Husband gets clusters of what look like these and currently referred on to check if excema or psoriasis which have been mentioned. The cream he's got at moment really helped dry them out, some peeling but they're going 🤞

BottleBottoms · 12/05/2023 16:35

Looks like it might be pompholyx/dyshidrotic eczema?

BottleBottoms · 12/05/2023 16:39

In which case, it tends to be caused by, and respond to, similar kinds of stuff as eczema.

I tend to have a few tiny blisters all the time (mine are a bit like Braille to the touch), but they really flared up badly after I spent some time playing with a fidget toy made of 125 tiny nickel-plated magnetic balls. That's when I worked out I have a nickel allergy 🤣

Tidsleytiddy · 12/05/2023 16:44

I remember having something similar many years ago caused by those horrible caterpillars that used to come into the garden…

100daystogo · 12/05/2023 16:46

It’s a type of eczema and mine was triggered by touching something I’m allergic too…bloody itchy and worse when you scratch them

Pompholyx

Find out about pompholyx (also called dyshidrotic eczema), including what the symptoms are, how it’s treated and what you can do to ease the symptoms.

Pompholyx!

Hard to clear but the gp should give you something for it.

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 12/05/2023 16:49

I get these on my hands from using rubber gloves when washing up/cleaning bathroom etc. I wash with pure soap and use sudocreme and they go. I tend to use the non latex disposable gloves if required or go without.

Also called dyshidrotic eczema

I had it for years
It can be genetic, my DM and niece both have it.
Also there is a hormonal element as I got it mid month every month and may be connected to a sensitivity to progesterone l

SuffolkUnicorn · 12/05/2023 17:11

Yes it is DE avoid anything containing MCI/Mi fairy liquid sets mine off so I use surcare I’ve had this for years

HanSB · 12/05/2023 17:15

Yes, pompholyx eczema, so itchy and I find if the blisters weep then it spreads more and extra sore with the little cuts. I take anti-histamine tablets which takes the edge off and use a mild steroid cream prescribed by the doctor. I tend to get it when my hands are in an extreme of being very dry or very sweaty.

HairyKitty · 12/05/2023 17:16

Is it a type of herpes viral outbreak? Looks like the vesicles you get with that rash.

Nickiholly · 12/05/2023 17:39

Looked up pompholyx! Seems to make sense, it’s weird as I have a small baby with eczema so have been moisturising them loads with emollients etc - so feel like my hands should be in good nick.

I showed a pharmacist and she didn’t have a clue what it was but said to use hydrocortisone twice a day

So strange! My son has suddenly got these as well.

acuppatea · 12/05/2023 17:58

I get them when I eat gluten. Hydrocortisone clears it up but they only truly stop coming on a gf diet.

Backtonormalatlast · 12/05/2023 18:02

I had those on just one lower arm for months! Really itchy and bled if I scratched too hard . They just disappeared after using hydrocortisone cream . They have left red scars .

LunchAtTeatime · 12/05/2023 18:09

Looks a bit like covid rash to me. Mine came up as I was getting over it and lasted about a week. Had it on my feet as well though.

Hands and feet are typical dyshidrotic eczema

OK. Mine was covid rash though. My son had the same symptoms, same rash, but about 2 days ahead of me.
