he is allergic to ALL nuts and to ALL fish - he also has eczema but it looks like he's been eating foods that are making his eczema worse.

The Doctor is referring him to a Dietician but I am guessing it will take a few months for an appt. In the meantime, can any of you advise me on what foods I can give to my DS?? When I go shopping I read everything and most stuff contains nuts. His skin is awful today .

We have had a care plan written and told to use Elocon twice daily for 1 wk then once daily for 1 week. We have been told to stop using Cetreben and switch to emylsisfying cream. To stop using Oilatum in the bath and to use Aveeno. All this info from an Eczema nurse - totally the opposite to what the Dermatolgist has said (allery testing was done at a different hospital to mine).

Anyway sorry for long rant but I feel a bit cheesed off. I feel so sorry for my little boy .

I'm sorry for the bad news.

It may feel daunting at this time but you will manage, and you and your child will do well. Don't ever forget that

This is an extract of what I give to people when DS is under their care, hope it helps:

---------
Peanuts and other nuts:
Normally specified in the package. DS is OK with “may contain traces of nuts”, “manufactured in a factory that handles nuts”, but NOT with “manufactured in equipment/line that it is used for/handles peanuts/nuts” (and similar). Please also avoid anything with the word ARACHIS or nuts in it, and as DS is slightly sensitive to sesame seeds too, please avoid humous. DS can also develop an allergic reaction by skin contact

Fish:
Also hidden as surimi and Worcestershire sauce. Some products with Omega 3 may be fish based.
-----------

The nut aspect can be adapted depending on the severity of the reactions.

One of the things I found interesting when dealing with DS dietary restrictions is how easy it is to avoid nuts and fish, very few products contain them and they are always very easy to identify.

It seems like a very hard work at the beginning but soon it becomes second nature. You will be fine

ELR - is your little one under a Dermatologist? If so, you can ask for a referral to an Allergist for testing. You have to have some idea of what he MIGHT be allergic to tho as there are 100's of things to be allergic too. We had an idea about the nuts, hence the referral.
