CMPA & soy allergy - breastfeeding

ReeseWitherfork · 13/10/2022 07:25

Over the last few weeks, I’ve discovered my 6 month old DT have both CMPA and soy allergy (with the assistance of the HV). I’m waiting further appointments. In the mean time, I’m struggling with my diet. I don’t feel like I’ve eaten much over the last few days and I’m panicking now that my supply is decreasing (they both seem fussy and cluster feeding, I’m going to keep a close eyes on nappies today). Anyone been in this situation and can advise what sort of things you ate?

Soya allergy is very difficult in some ways as it's in a lot of things. It was mostly bread that was the issue for us, it took a bit of reading of labels to find soya free bread.

Things like part baked rolls, wraps and pitta were best rather than standard pre sliced bread.

In terms of main meals I didn't find it that hard to adapt to dairy and soya free.

Chill
Bolognese
Thai curry
Roast dinner
Tomato pasta
Baked salmon

Are all standard meals for us.

Yep I did this for 3 years. What is it your normal like to eat?

Thanks to an EU directive to remove allergens from stuff, this is now easier than it was a few years ago.
You can eat bread from most bakery counters now, just read the label. Morrisons is about 50/50 soy free and improving.
Cheap biscuits are fine, basic brand oaties, gingernuts and bourbons.
Lidl and Aldi stolen Grin
Chocolate is a bugger as most contain soy lectins
Lidl Hazelnut cake cars (the massive ones)

Veg, meat, fish, pasta, rice etc are all fine

Read margarine ingredients obsessively, some Flora are fine.

What do you feel you are missing out on?

Take a calcium supplement, ask at the pharmacy
