Allergy to hazelnuts?

My daughter is 9 months old. Has intolerance to dairy (bloody nappy and eczema) and also has mucousy nappies from egg. We have an appt with allergy clinic but not until Jan.

I gave her some toast yesterday morning around 8.30am with 1/4 tsp of hazelnut spread (1st time introducing) across two slices with avocado. She didn’t especially swallow the bread but sucked all the topping off so would have been exposed to the hazelnut spread.

thought nothing of it all morning as no rashes or swelling etc. At lunch around 1pm she did have rosy cheeks (like you get from being out in the cold) but ate her lunch fine, no issues. Clear cheeks an hour or so later.

i gave her about 5oz milk at 5pm, then she had her dinner at 6.30pm. At about 8pm when I was putting her down to bed she vomited everywhere. Very happy and smiley afterwards and she is not a sicky baby. Then this morning she has vomited again after her breakfast. Not sure whether this is a delayed reaction from the hazelnut? She’s only been sick after food (twice so far).

it the rosy cheeks and vomiting I’m wondering in they are a delayed reaction? guess I shouldn’t rule it out do you think? She was sick on Wednesday (again very unusual) and hadn’t had any allergens so thought this might just be a stomach bug.

she’s fine with peanuts and almonds but hasn’t had any other nuts.

I would have thought that an allergic reaction would be more immediate. However as you already know she’s an atopic child, maybe wait with introducing nuts until she’s had allergy testing and you’ve spoken to the consultant.

My son has a hazelnut allergy, there are multiple (different and serious) allergies in three of my children. The bottle fed child doesn’t have allergies.

If you’re worried - and for good reason - don’t take the risk. Maybe the GP can get the January appointment brought forward?
