Hi all

We seem to be getting to the bottom of DD feeding issues(; refusing bottled; unsettled; only drinks whilst asleep; diarrhoea and reflux).

She has tested positive for lactose intolerance (stool sample reducing sugars).

She is formula fed. Was moved onto nutrimagen and gaviscon due to losing weight.

Does anyone know if

a. Nutrimagen is suitable for lactose intolerance?

B. She could also have a chores milk allergy?( her cousin's have severe milk allergy)

C. Are lactulase enzyme drops recommended?

I am chasing gp for referral to dietician. But they are incredibly slow.

TIA

Yea Nutramigen is suitable for both lactose intolerance and cow’s milk protein allergy. The proteins in it are partly broken down to help if your baby has an allergy but the formula is also free from lactose if it’s an intolerance.
If you’ve had stool samples checked and came back high acidity that does indicate an intolerance as that’s not the usual test for milk allergy (that’s either done by a skin prick test or elimination diet).
However it is possible to have both I assume but the Nutramigen is the first formula you would be put on for an allergy anyway.

Thank you for your message.
The lactose intolerance test involved a still ample- something about reducing sugars being present.
