Food allergy testing

Hi All,
Can anyone recommend a food allergy testing business. Google brings up all sorts and I don't know where to start.
I am thinking of not going through the gp because

  1. I waited months for a physio referral, at which point the physio told me her list was so long, and I was in pain, and she thought I should go private😕

2)I have 2 ongoing referrals for respiratory and a lump, and know how long everything takes, and feel like I use too much NHS resources as it is.

So any recommendations?

I had a whole body rash yesterday after tea (vege sausages had pea protein in but no bold allergens). I also had a breathing, throat swelling reaction 4 months ago but was unable to pinpoint the cause.

You'll need to see an allergy specialist/immunologist, though I believe some private dermatologists will do skin prick tests, but tbh it's not worth doing as you'll need a proper history taken and the diagnostic skills of an allergy doc.

I saw Prof. Till at Allergy London and he was fantastic.

Did you go to A&E with your anaphylactic reaction? Do you have epipens?

I agree with the PP. You need to see someone medically qualified and have a proper history taken.
The only meaningful allergy tests are skin prick tests and blood tests for specific IgE levels (sometimes referred to as RAST tests) but they need to be interpreted in the light of the clinical picture by someone who really understands them. You need to be seen by someone who can properly manage your care, not just get tests, and most of the tests you can buy for yourself - hair tests and the like - are a load of rubbish anyway.
It sounds like you are having pretty significant reactions so please get yourself proper care asap. You aren't abusing the NHS at all so don't feel bad about calling the GP. It is true that NHS allergy services are hard pressed and if you can afford to be seen privately that might be a good idea, but I would make your GP your first port of call. They should know of reputable private practitioners in your area, and you may need a referral from your GP even to be seen privately.
