Suddenly intolerant to peas?

I'm mid 40s. Tonight I finished off a few spoonfuls of my daughters peas. I never normally eat them but I was hungry. Instantly I had a huge sneezing fit for about 10 mins, streaming eyes, really tingling lips and tongue, difficult to breathe at a few points, my throat felt really tight. I'm not an allergic person, never had a reaction like this before. I don't normally even get hayfever. Can you suddenly become allergic to something

I think yes you can. Although it can be difficult to pinpoint.
I had a full body itchy, stinging rash after tea yesterday.
I am thinking pea protein in vege sausages, but I also had peas.
As it affected your breathing I think you need to try and get a blood test for allergies.

I had one for kiwi a few months ago, after similar symptoms to yours, but it came back negative, so I still don't know what caused my symptoms.

I think you can. It’s called pollen allergy syndrome I think.

also, I heard that IGE allergies show up on blood / skin tests but non IGE by food diary as more difficult to diagnose.

also didn’t realise but peas are cross reactive with peanuts so take care with those.

best of luck x

You certainly can. I never had any allergies until I was 37. Now I can't eat a whole host of things because they want to kill me 😅

Give peas a chance?

I'll get my coat...
