I'm 55 yrs & on HRT.
I can't sleep for more than 2 hours per night.
The doctor has prescribed sleeping tablets & even Xanax but each time I take a tablet I come out in a horrible rash & don't feel well in myself.
I have a bad reaction to antihistamine tablets too.
Tried CBD oil to help me sleep but came out in a rash after that too.
This has only developed over the past 6 months. The doctor is really puzzled.
Can anyone advise me?Melatonin also caused a bad reaction

Its strange-different products all causing a reaction. I would be looking at exipients- ie the ingredients needed to make a tablet- can be lactose, methylcellulose etc. It might be an idea to make a list of what you have tried, including the brand/manufacturer and approach one of the hospital pharmacy medicines information help lines and ask them for advice. They might be better bet to find an answer than a GP as they have more expertise regarding product formulation.
The CBD oil is a bit of a conundrum though. Is your HRT in tablet form or a patch/gel? does that cause a problem?
I suppose the other alternative might be allergy testing via a dermatologist.
All seems odd though. Has anything environmental changed and the medicines are co-incidence?

I heard something about allergies and histamine intolerance in menopause but can't remember exactly what (Yes I'm menopausal too! Grin) Might be worth a Google

I am a nightmare to prescribe for. I have hypersensitivity to coatings on tablets as well as colourings. For my prescriptions the gp sends me to pharmacy with a note explaining what he'd like to prescribe, and pharmacist searches database to find a tablet that meets my needs. Then I go back to gp with info and prescription is issued. Its time consuming but worth it.

Thanks for the replies.Nothing has changed so it a strange one!
How did you find out which coatings & colours you had a reaction too?
Yes I did hear of a connection with menopause & histamine

I kept developing rashes, nausea and migraines after starting medication. Started with an antibiotic, after repeatedly trying different ones, GP suggested trying one that was white with no coatings, and I had no reactions. Over last few years, as things have been prescribed and I've had same symptoms (white tablets with coatings or coloured with no coating) so I now only take uncoloured coating free tablets. My lovely pharmacist, thinks its probably a fairly common problem, within my social circle I know of two other people who have same sensitivity as me
