I'm cooking for a friend with Coeliac - can I use condensed milk?

I am making a banoffee pie for my friend. Usually I buy the ready made pastry cases but can;t this time so i've adaptedmy recipe to use ground ginger biscuits (free from ones)mixed with melted butter.

But I'm not 100% what makes condensed milk condensed? I haven;t bought it yet.

Hi

Yes, condensed milk is fine - quick google says that condensed milk is milk where the water's been removed and sugar added. So no gluten/wheat in it!

And a million brownie points for making a g-f pudding for your friend! I'm v. happy now I've discovered that our Tescos stocks a gluten-free Dime Bar Cake - in the freezer section in case you ever need one!

My exdp had coeliac disease - he often had condensed milk. So no problem at all.
Except it makes you fat
And yes - and I second dottydot's congrats
I used to do a lot of cooking from scratch for exdp, I know how hard it can be finding decent gf free recipes, though I think things have improved since I finished with him 10 years ago.

I hope dp doesn't think getting rid of me is an option

We are planning New Years Eve party and I'm providing th epudding. She usually has pavlova so I thought I'd surprise her with an old favourite.

I am allergic to cheese so I know what its like reading every ingredient and finding stuff. I even found salsa with cheddar in it!

Off to Tesco I go then....

My coeliac husband cannot tolerate eggs. I'm vegetarian and ds2 is diabetic - it's fun at our house!
