hives, upper and lower respiratory reactions to milk and egg

Hi new here. Does anyone know any children that outgrew such harsh reactions to these foods. Just a bit of milk protein or a bit of egg product throws my ds into a reaction. I'm looking for a glimmer of hope.

ds reacted like that when he had milk- it was an ingredient in a baby organix cereal. You could see it going down, as he was breaking out in hives as it was going down. We took him to a homeopath when he was about 18 months. He can now have dairy, but not alot, we have to moniter him.

hth

good luck

Ds is 3 now and still suffers anaphylaxis from a tiny amount of egg
How old is your ds

Ds is almost 2 and first reaction was at 10 months. Is your Ds rast number at least coming down a bit? My Ds has been tested twice and doubled.

DD had bad hives and lip swelling within seconds of one sip of milk based formula. That was at 5 months. She tested as allergic to cow's milk protein and egg.

Now she is 16 months and we have not tried her on more egg or plain milk. However, a few months ago she accidently got hold of some chocolate and was fine (except for a tiny bit of excema). She also had a tiny bit of cheese and was fine. The hospital are going to arrange a "dairy challenge" so that we can expose her to further dairy in a controlled environment. Her consultant is hopeful.

Sounds like good news to me! I bet she's outgrown her allergy. My Ds had a tiny bit of milk protein that was in a bouillon cube ( soup) , skipped the hives and went straight to respiratory. Your daughter's news is very encouraging. Which formula do you have her on now? My Ds is still on Nutramigen.

I think it encouraging LBAMOM. Sorry that your DS is not going the same way. DD never made it onto formula - after that reaction I decided to stick with breast feeding (with a total dairy free diet). The hospital gave me Neocate but DD would not touch the stuff. I breast fed until she was over 1 and now she had something called Rice Milk when she wants milk.

His last rast test was high and he had skin prick tests but that made his whole arm swell up

Ds had an anaphylatic reaction last sunday and the ambulance people said its unusual to have such a strong reaction to a tiny exposure.

He dipped his finger in some iceing that contained egg white powder

Hopefully your ds will be lucky.

He was also on nutremigen but outgrew that allergy at about 18 months. He has diary fine now but does get a tummy upset with whole milk

Sorry to hear about last Sundays anaphylactic reaction. It sounds like my situation over here. When my Ds is exposed even a bit here I have to medicate and take to the ER. Your Ds is lucky that he outgrew his dairy allergy. I'm very encouraged by that good news. Wishing you the best in the new year.
