excema in babies, did any foods like wheat or dairy products make it worse?

just starting another thread in relation to my thread on symptoms to look out for when introducing potentially allergenic foods. thinking of trying ds with oats now he is 9 months, as these are supposed to be less problematic than wheat. he already has some excema on his legs, so would like to know if anyone has found certain foods make it worse? thanks in advance, from worried mum, whose dh has asthma and very bad excema as a child.

I think that it'll depend very much on your child unfortunately but I've found that some foods do make my nine mth ds's ezcema worse. He's been tested for allergies which concluded that he was allergic to dairy, wheat and egg. I've also been to see an complimentary health specialist to check him for other allergies as there's only so many pin prick tests I can subject my ds to. She also listed yeast, citrus, corn, cod and choc as foods for him to avoid. But she didn't pick up on wheat or egg so although I saw an improvement when I gave these foods up (i was still bf at the time) I still think there's a certain amount of salt pinching that you have to do.

Well every child is different so a good idea is to keep a diary of what you feed him to able to know what he might be reacting too. In the case of DS if he has too much protein (too much fish or red meat several days in a row) the eczema comes back but as soon as we lower the "dose" he goes back to normal. He also has a contact allergy to tomato.

But as I said, it's just a matter of keep an eye on him to see what it could be.
