Hi all

My 12 week of DD has been struggling quite abit to sometimes finish a bottle of anti reflux milk. We put him on that because he was constantly bringing up most of his bottle. However he is still splitting up his milk , he's stomach is sometimes soft and sometimes solid when we try to wind him he keeps moving forward like arching his back. He is sometimes coughing or just randomly started like he gagging for air like he's chocking so we quickly sit him out and it stops. Sometimes it sounds like he's has an blocked nose so we have been using saline drops and they still not working as you can hear him breathing through his nose at times and when he's asleep he's sometimes snores. However he tends to fart a lot especially after having an feed. He grunts and becomes restless after an feed despite winding him he's on mam anti colic bottles as well especially at night when he's more like it. After an hour or two after a feed he starts screaming/crying despite not having a bottle that long ago because it can have some of the bottle leave it and then an hour later he has the rest of it, so sometime we give him another bottle to top him up and he's still crying while having his milk. Also when he has his bottle around his mouth goes red and sometimes his eyelids go all red as well. Lastly when he poo he's grunts and pull a face when he pooing so you know he's doing one but it's all watery and loose like an green colour as well but when we don't give him colief it can be all one ball of poo like in an bulk and solid and he is constipated. I have mention it to the doctor over the phone she has told me he might have an milk intolerance so I'm unsure if it's CMPA or lactose intolerance has I've seen both of them for each of these symptoms he got.

Thankyou for the really long post just that this is my first born and we alot of problems with his birth and was in hospital till he was 10 days of 8 days of them was being on the neonatal unit ward and he was 3 weeks early as well. So me and his dad is constantly worrying about him and if he is okay.

It'd be more likely CMPA than lactose intolerance with a young baby. Human milk is full of lactose so mammals are mainly born able to digest it, otherwise in nature we would die. As adults we often lose the ability to digest lactose once we wean onto solid food, just in western cultures we tend to like tea with milk and cheese and things so keep up our tolerance.
True lactose intolerance in a baby would be life threatening.
As you mentioned you're bottle feeding, there's a special anti allergy milk that your GP can prescribe that has the proteins modified so your baby can digest it more easily. In your position i would look into that.

Hi op! My baby is 6 weeks and he sounds very similar. The coughing / choking is the same as well as the reflux and the feeding pattern. Please do update when you've seen gp, I'd be interested to know what they say.
