Nut free cakes and snacks

We are getting married next month and one of our guests has a nut allergy.

The caterers can ensure that he’s provided with a main meal/dessert which is safe for him to eat but I was hoping that you might be able to make some suggestions for:

  • A nut free cake bar that he can have when everyone else has cake (ideally one that comes in a sealed package- a bit like Cadbury’s mini rolls etc)
  • A nut free pasty or sausage roll in a sealed package for the evening food (our baker can’t guarantee that the pasties we’re providing for everyone else are nut free).

I thought people on this board might have some good ideas for things that are both safe and tasty!
Thank you xx

Be careful - nut allergies can be extreme so you need to check how severe your guest's allergy is. Being in the vicinity/close proximity of nut based foods may trigger a reaction. You need to consider possible contact through plate clearing or people nearby. Best choice is to remove anything nut based from your menu.

That’s really helpful.
He’s said that he can have nuts in the room but not in the food (we don’t actually have anything with nuts on the menu but for the cakes/evening food we can’t guarantee that they’re made in a totally nut free environment because we’re using small, independent bakers- which is why I’m looking for alternatives for these snacks)

How are they with "may contain"?

Usual2usual · 22/07/2021 20:51

Brompton House chocolate cakes and brownies come individuallu wrapped and are nut free (no may contain either). You can buy them in Iceland or Home Bargains (double check the box though its been a while since we have had them).

Cake crew (Tesco) are usually good too - cupcakes but not individually wrapped.

I don't know about pasties etc. sorry as DS doesn't eat them.

Have a look on the Nutfreeliving instagram for some ideas they have everything!

M&S allergy labelling is very good and they have pasties which don't contain nuts and do not have a 'may contain' warning.

This cake is definitely nut free but maybe not the look you are going for!

Thank you so much! These suggestions are really helpful (I’m definitely not against a wedding catapillar cake 😂)
